Well... Every Treasurer of the United States has been a woman since Georgia Neese Clark for Harry Truman. I have yet to find any with minimal achievements. It is said that to be considered equal to a man, a woman must do twice as much, which fortunately is not difficult. Ms. Rios certainly continues the tradition, Wikipedia bio here.
She is a liberal for business, which meant civic investment in an Oakland Athletics Stadium with Robert Bobb (who then came to Detroit to run the schools). She lost that to Jerry Brown who wanted an apartment complex. He fired her and a bunch of others and she moved East to eventually join Team Obama. ... and here we are...

That said, it is nice that she works the crowds. I appreciate the Treasury and BEP presence at ANA conventions, certainly. However, this event in particular is for the capital city coterie. "Free of charge" (to anyone who can come to Washington D.C.). It is one of the reasons that I am not interested in the "cultural patrimony" claims leveled against collectors. Even if these coins and things actually do get displayed in some national museum, only the rulers in the capital can avail themselves of the thrill. The farmers from whose lands these artifacts are taken never get to enjoy them... or any profit from them.

Anyway, I am happy for her that she has a nice job. I trust that she will be with us for a long, long time.
